I.V.

Does anyone have any special tricks of doing an i.v. And getting it the first try? Tried one today and it blew and saline wouldn't push thur..ughh i.v. Are so frustrating for me...any help or ideas would be great!

What got me really good at IVs was shadowing some of the more experienced nurses and palpating what they would palpate prior to the stick with regards to the invisible veins.

For those little itty bitty veins it's all about going very very slowly. As soon as that flash happens don't even advance the needle anymore, just slide the catheter off and in.
