I was in geriatrics clinical a few days ago. I was about to do a straight cath with my patient and a fellow classmate who had done it watching over me and a few other classmates observin. The other pt in the same room suddenly had a seizure. I was in the sterile field already and stayed with my patient because he couldn't be left alone either in the middle of the procedure. My classmates went to the pt with the seizure. Did I do the right thing? With multiple things going on prioritization and delegation is important in nursing as I have learned, but there are at times when I am worried whether I'm doing the right thing.

You did the right thing especially when you had a gaggle of other individuals to help in the room with you.

Yes, there were other people to assist the seizing patient so you did not need to leave your patient. Take it a step further though, what could/would you have done had you been alone in the room?
@SilleLu I think this is close to a prioritization/delegation question on NCLEX. In reality what I would do is I would cover my patient since hte catheter wasn't inserted, go the pt with a seizure and press the call light.

Absolutely! The other patient was being attended to.
