I have 2 choices
1. I need an idea for a Pediatric ICU project to improve the unit, for employees or patients. such as (paint the ceiling tiles~ for patients to look at -already taken)
2. A safety project or fun thing (i.e.~ toy box for kids to pic from while in hosp)
I'm not creative at all and I have to do this for work, PLEASE Help any ideas?:)
~~~~~Greatly appreciated~~~~~
In the Riley PICU,
We have handmade blankets that our "Cheer Guild" makes. The Cheer Guild also supplies toys, stuffed animals, and games for our patients and our patients' siblings.
One of the best PICU projects that I ever saw was a resource for the parents. It comprised of a wall chart, showing a map of the area. Any services in the area (dry cleaners, gyms, supermarkets, doctors offices, pharmacy etc) were marked. A key at the side of the map gave opening times, telephone numbers etc for these services. By contacting the stores directly we were even able to obtain discounts for parents who had children on the unit.
It was a large project (with over 300 services identified) but the feedback from parents was amazing!! The staff also learned a thing or two about services offered in the area, and qualified for discounts too!
I have to agree with this idea. As a parent who once had a child in NICU. It is very tramatic and if you are unfamiliar with the area that would help a great deal. Also if you had an extra room where you could devote just to the parents who stay at the hospital with the child even a little cheerful area to step away from it all would be nice also.
Thank you for the idea, that is a great idea and gives me a lot of room to work with it. I will definately submit that project and start working on it thank you so much !! :) :)
I think GOOD IDEA WOULD BE TO COME UP WITH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PLAY TIME OF TABLE GAMES OR HAVE PLAYSTATIONS FOR THE KIDS TO PLAY WITH NURSES AMYBE, MAYBE DO SOME CRAFTS OR MAKING OTHER THINGS. YOU KNOW WHATS REALLY FUN, HAVE THEM MAKE BUTTONS WITH THEIR NAMES OT PICTURES ON IT.
