I need help!

I'm a junior nursing student and I am stuck on what to do next summer. I was planning on applying for a nurse extern position at my local hospital, but I also want to go on a medical mission trip to Bolivia my nursing dept. is offering. Problem is the extern position runs may-may (24 hrs a week during summer, 12 hrs a week during school) and the trip is at the end of may. Does anyone know if externs are allowed time off for school-related reasons? The trip is 10 days long. If you had to choose which one would you choose?

    Tough situation. If the trip thing is a requirement I say that is important more so than the other. However, you can always ask whomever is in charge if you are allowed 10 days off for the school trip. It doesn't hurt to try first.
