I don't know what to do next

Hi! This is my first post but I've been reading here for many years.

Background: BA in education in 2002. Hated teaching kids, so tried lots of jobs. Ended up as a medical assistant. Went back to school for nursing. Had twin boys just as I started. ;) ADN in 2008.

Med/surg 2008-2010 with stroke and plastic certifications. My favorite patients were plastic and hospice. Most favorite was the nursing students though!

Had another baby. Switched to resource/float pool from 2010-2013. The stress caused chest pain and panic attacks. Quit to stay home for a few years.

Just happened to get offered a job in a cosmetic surgery office last fall. Did 5 months. Left because the dr was more ass than I could tolerate.

Now for my question..... How do you figure out what area of nursing you belong in? My kids are getting older now and I want to find a career path rather than a job. I love inpatient hospice, reconstruction, and teaching, but all of those seem to be impossible to find, or I'm not qualified.

Where do I look?

eta. My kids are in school. I'm thinking part time with the plan for full time in 5-10 years.

What about as a nurse educator? What about a clinical nurse educator in a secondary school? What about an LPN/CNA/Med Assist. teacher at a vocational school?

You could look into getting your MBA, a masters in nurse informatics....

Or you could see about the local Home Health/Visiting nurses and work for them part time, and more full time as the kids get older.

Or as a school nurse.

Best wishes!
