I failed once, how do I pass?

Published

Hello,

I just found this forum after google-ing "I need help passing nclex". I thought I'd give it a try....

I recently took boards on Aug 24th and failed. I had all 265 questions and it took me 5.5 hours to complete. I received my results and my performance report says that I was "NEAR THE PASSING STANDARD" in all the areas tested.

So, I have yet to reregister and I am feeling very down. I have been using Lippincott's review 8th ed. but I don't do well when answering the question in that book. I feel like I have no hope and I really need to pass this time because my family depends on it.

What do I do?

I think I have trouble reading the questions....

When asked "What statement by the client requires more teaching" really means which statement is wrong or false, right?

and "what statement made by the client shows they understand" means which statement is correct or true, right?

Check out the sticky at the top of the thread New revised first tip of Suzanne plan. Alot of people have passed with her plan. I will be taking it a third with using her plan. Good luck and have faith in yourself do not not give up.

I would hold of re registering until you feel ready to sit it again, may be worth thinking about Suzanne's plan

Good luck

I am going to try Suzanne's plan before I sit again. Thanks for all of your kind words...

platanos, let me see if i can give you my point of view. when a questions asks "which statement by the client requires further teaching" the first thing i did was ask myself, "which of the following answers is a bad statement." remember, 2 answers may be correct, then you must decide which is the best answer. apply your ABCs, maslow etc...

secondly, if a question asks "which statement shows an understanding" i would then ask myself, "which of these answers makes the question true." there may also be 2 or more answers correct. apply

ABCs, maslow etc...

my strategy was to read each answer and see if it validates what the question is asking. i hope this helps. have you taken kaplan? if not, get the kaplan strategies book, i really recommend it.
