I am afraid

Published

Hi everyone, first I love my job as a CNA but having 9 or 12 residents to cared for how I am suppose to do my job finish all on time without injuring any resident. the thing I am scared for is when I transfer my resident into wheelchair and back to bed,:nailbiting: they are heavy even using trolley and I cannot always ask other CNA for help since they are busy also. the trolley alone I don't trust it. am I over reacting to this. perhaps I need to switch a new career? :( Any opinion or suggestions will appreciated. thank you in advance.

Oops, I meant to edit and double posted.

Have you thought about trying weight lifting, using moderate to heavy weights, to increase your strength?

Contrary to past beliefs, women are more than capable of lifting weights without getting bulky, and the extra strength will make you more comfortable when moving patients. Unless you're male (sorry, I can't tell based on your posts) , then getting bulky is still hard to do.

You'll see many suggestions, but I would suggest sticking with a beginner program such as Starting Strength (modified a bit) or something along that line.

Mechanical lifts are not to be used by a single operator. It is a safety issue--it's not a shortcoming on your part. Ask another CNA for help, and then return the favor by helping w/ her heavy residents
