Question nurses. My family member just had major surgery and its been 1 week postop. His resting 02 on ra is 84. Mild sob with exertion. Dr is not a bit concerned but I am. I've been a nurse 2 yrs and have never sent a pt home with an o2 reading that low. Dr says its just a number. We do not know what or if it drops during ambulation because no one seems to care. And we will soon find out if it drops while sleeping! What's your thoughts? Should I press the issue? He has never had sat problems before. He had liver ca with mets. Partial hepatectomy and radical nephrectomy. He did get overloaded a few days postop which they eventually treated with lasix. He is still swollen as well. Urine output is fine.

Sorry we can not give medical advice. However, if you are concerned about your father's condition you should communicate these concerns to your father's doctor, making sure the physician understands what your father's baseline status is. Good luck

As mentioned we can not offer medical advice as per the Terms of Service of the site. You really need to be discussing this with his doctor
