Hyperbaric and Autism

Published

I have a friend who has a child with severe autism. Child undergoing hyperbaric therapy and likes it, has seen improvements. Mom must sit in with child, becomes uncomfortable due to clausterphobia and anxiety. Any suggestions on ways to distract or activities etc, that may help during treatments?? Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I'm a school nurse. I have an autistic son. Does hyperbaric really helps?

I have done HBOT with my son if their little sucking on a pacifer can help with the ears. Our chamber we used was one you layed down in so we had pillows and blankets in there and we both would sleep after a while they get used to it. That being said im skeptical of hbot for developmental issues.......... and its not supported by evidence. we did it when we thought my son had autism /cerebral palsy but he actually had a genetic condition. We saw little things here and there but certainly not worth the cost. I would have NEVER done it had i known he had a genetic conditon and im pretty dismayed to see our local hbot center allowing very quetionable candidates to spend their lifesavings to come participate.

Our chambers (we have 2 monoplace) have a TV/DVD where the sound is wired into the chamber. Is that an option where your friend and her son receive treatment?
