Hi All!! I am going to be a third time test taker and just purchased the Hurst review for the first time. I wanted to get some opinions and see if you all felt that this review worked for you? I have been out of school for a year so I know that I need a refresher on content. I have also purchased NCSBN review (I have purchased before but found the content slightly boring) I want to use this more so for questions. Anything that you all can suggest to help make this the third and FINAL attempt at the Nclex? Also what was your experience with Hurst?

I sat through the four-day classroom-based Hurst Review back in early 2010. I felt it provided an excellent content review. I passed NCLEX-RN six weeks later after answering the minimum of 75 questions.

Hurst review worked for me. I took the 3 day live review this past May and committed about 3-4 weeks to make flash cards of everything that was in the student manual and I passed the NCLEX in 75 questions. I also purchased PDA by LaCharity to help me with prioritization and delegation.

I thought Hurst Review was an excellent tool for me to pass the NCLEX-RN. I used a combinations of 4-5 other resources in addition to Hurst and I passed with 76 questions. Make sure you study the content without a doubt or hesitation, this means you must be able to regurgitate the information from memory. Memorize and understand the content from the worksheets or your lecture videos. Also, look up in your main review book all the things that are not covered in the Hurst Review because Hurst only goes through some things. I found that by having Hurst and a combination of other review materials, I was able to hit those questions well.

I thought that the review content was okay, very basic. On my NCLEX I was asked SEVERAL questions that weren't in the HURST review manual and I had that thing memorized! I think what helped me pass was doing tons of questions. The HURST questions are mostly based of their content so I suggest getting questions from somewhere else (Kaplan) to help. Answering questions on topics that I wasn't familiar with is what saved my butt in the NCLEX. My average score for all 6 practice tests was 67% which is the same percent they say you need to score to pass. I did pass my first time with 256 questions.
