I sometimes wonder how other hospitals or units are like and what they offer that my hospital or unit does/doesn't. I thought it would be good to start a forum for other RNs who may be thinking about looking for another job and want to get an idea about other units/hospitals before they apply. Answer as much or as little as you want!!!
Hospital: (Name of Hospital or System: Baylor Scott & White, HCA, THR, etc)
Unit: (Unit you work on, can leave blank if you'd. For Example, NICU, ER, OR, L&D, etc.)
Level: (Level NICU, ER, etc. or you can state number of beds on floor/hospital, does your unit offer private rooms, etc.)
City: (Dallas, Houston, Austin, Waco, Bryan etc.)
Patient Population: (What does the hospital/unit cater to? Ethnicty, race, age, etc.)
Staff Population: (How many staff on your unit, average age range, ethnicties, etc.)
Benefits/Pros: (What do you like that your unit/hospital offers? Self scheduling, great benefits, higher hourly rates, 8/12 hr shift options, etc.)
Cons: (What don't you like about your hospital or that it does not offer)
*Elaborate on things your unit or hospital offeres that others may not. Does your hospital L&D offer waterbirths, does your NICU do surgeries, etc. What are requirements for Full Time, Part Time, or PRN (1 shift a month or a week) staff? Anything that will give your fellow RNs an idea about what else is out there will be helpful...Let's start sharing*

Good idea! Every state should have a thread like this. I won't be working in TX though so I won't fill it out. What about your workplace, OP? You should answer too!
