How twisted am I?

I had worked 15 years in substance abuse. Last year I started back to school to pursue nursing. I was required to get a CNA so I thought I give it a shot in a long term care unit at the local hospital. I couldn't stand it! God bless those who can take care of the elderly, but i found it to be boring! Now I'm back working on a Dual Diagnosis unit. The other night a client got a hold of a mirror and did some cutting (on her wrist). Certianly I felt bad for th e client, but part of me jump for joy This is where I bleong.!!!

Thanks for listening

If you are sharing your delight in finding a specialty that suits you, congratulations! However, if you are you saying you were jumping for joy to find a client cutting her wrists, I find that a bit disturbing.

sorry if I didn't make myself clear....I guess it was a bit late. No I'm never happy to see someone hurt, be it a client with self inflicted injuries, or an elderly person having a fall. I guess I'm just saying that I feel more useful in an environment where there is (for lack of a better word) action. God bless those older people but I don't think I could have spent more time discussing weather or not they've had a bowel movement yet today, or if it's raining outside. I guess I found it a surprise because 10 years ago I left the substance abuse field saying it was for those who were young enough to have the stamina for the drama of it all...but I guess enough of the stamina remains....does that make sense? Thanks
