How to request another case

How do I request another case and drop my current one? My current one is not the right fit and I would love to work with another family. My other two cases are just fine but the third case I really don't think is right for me? Do I put it in writing? I will keep the case if I have no other option. I just want to see what my options are. Thanks.

Most of the time all it takes is a talk with the staffing coordinator. Just tell him or her. They will probably keep you on the case until they have a replacement nurse. Or, you can insist on your last day, if the issues are that important. The agency will like the situation a lot better if you agree to stay until they have someone else lined up. Be prepared to be told that they don't have anything else for you at this time. That may or may not be the case. You only should put it in writing if there is something very wrong with the situation that you want to make a written record about. Otherwise, you would be making a paper trail about how many times you leave cases and you don't necessarily want to do that.

Thanks !! Good answer. I may be forced to leave this case anyway due to school. I told the coordinator to just find someone else to start in sept. since I won't know my clinical schedule until the end of August. I guess it worked out for this particular situation. sigh-

Now I need to start looking for more cases... as soon as I now my clinical schedule. Going to RN school while working is NOT an easy task, especially when our schedule changes every 7 weeks and we don't know in advance what our work availability is.

That was why I worked night shift while attending school.

I emailed my instructor today to find out EXACTLY what day I start clinical. So hopefully she will tell me so that I can give both my agencies my availability.

Night shift does seem very appealing, but I know I would get tired.
