I'm a sophomore, (16) in high school in mid missouri. I am wanting to know how old do you have to be to become a CNA? I want to become in an RN in the future and would like to do all I can to prepare now. I have heard different answers, such as 16, 17, and 18. So, if someone could help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much! Take care!

That's a great idea. It will give you a feel of the position so you'll have a better understanding if this is the direction you wish to take. It sounds like you have a plan. Stick to it kid - I'm impressed. And, no I don't think 16 y/o will slow things down any check with the BON to be sure. :balloons:

Hi, I'm 17 and a pre-nursing student at a local community college. I have considered getting my CNA license and I know you can get it at 16 but the hospitals around here won't hire you until you are 18 so you would have to work in a place like a long-term care facility or rehab home or something like that. Best wishes !

I was hired as an aide in a LTC at the age of 16. They gave me on the job training. Of course, that was in the 70's........ I would check out the ads and call whoever is hiring and ask.

Ok thanks so much yall! I would really like to get my CNA this summer and hopefully find a job soon after. I really don't mind if its not in a hospital. I'm just looking to get the experience and make a little money. :) Anyways, thanks again!
