How to have MSN?

Published

Hi guys! like my title, i would like to ask how to have MSN? I am a new grad nurse has BSN and recently passed my nclex. I do not have any experience and I guess that's what makes it hard for me because hospitals nowadays only hire nurses with 1-2 years of experience :(

Any ideas how to start MSN? or am I even qualified to become one because I just recently passed and no professional experience at any hospital? and what would be the requirements for it? thank you colleagues. :)

At the risk of sounding smug - were you really not paying attention during your BSN program? Certainly, the faculty discussed how to advance as a nurse and definately how to come back and spend more money in their school. Now, if it was all online, I can can see how you might be out of touch. I know that there was a constant barrage of "how come back for a PhD" in my grad school.

don't be rude. i'm just asking nicely

Specializes in ICU-Step Down, Cardiac/CHF, Telemetry, L&D.

Basically, you:

1. Research what program or track you want to get (nurse practitioner, educator, management, clinical nurse specialist, general MSN, ect...).

2. Find a school whether online or in the class.

3. Find out the requirements and apply.

All of those specialties can be looked up online. Several specialities within the NP tract that I did not list but I'm sure you can find them. If you do a search on here you will find several posts that lists schools. If you have a BSN then you are able to be accepted pending the track doesn't require a year or two of clinical experience. Good Luck! Check at your current school I'm sure they have a MSN track.

Oh that's it.. thank you so much! I really want to expand my education and be a good nurse. thanks you for answering my question :)
