I'm a freshman student and will be applying to nursing school this upcoming fall. I know I need to expand my options and the more schools I apply to the better. How many though should I actually apply to? 3? 5? 8? 10? How many did you apply to? I definitely want to keep my options open.
Also! I am currently a resident in Kansas and I plan to go out of state for nursing schools most likely. I've been looking into CU Denver, KU Med, and SDSU (as I've visited both before) but I don't really know how else to search for nursing schools (in places I haven't visited)?
Thank you! :)

I cant speak for other states but SDSU (San Diego????) Is a very impacted program lots of people apply and very few get in. Cali just has soooo many people apply its unreal. Like some schools BSN programs admit less than 1% of qualified applicants. I would apply where ever you can. If you are set on going out of state.

Apply to as many schools as you'd consider attending. I applied to 10 schools my first time around and got into 2; long story why I had to apply the next year, but I did and got in.
Oh, and as far as figuring out schools, the web is your friend. Are you considering a city? See what universities are there, then search each university to see if they offer nursing. Most nursing programs (at least the ones I've seen) have a whole site on the university site with gobs of info. I applied to most of my schools without having visited.

It really depends on how high your GPA is, experience etc. how confident are you in getting accepted? What are the stats of each school? What's the acceptance rate and how many people do they accept? It will be more difficult to be accepted as an out-of-state applicant so take that into consideration as well. Really do your research on each school. I applied to 4 schools and got accepted to all. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

As many as you can financially afford after entrance exam fees and application fees etc.. Also consider cost and convenience. For example, I applied to 4 schools. Two private BSN. One state BSN and one ADN community college. Hoping I'm accepted to at Least one! Good luck

I applied to multiple schools. I am a huge believer in not putting all your eggs in a basket & having a backup plan with another back up plan for that back up plan. You get the jist. Research and apply to as many programs that you qualify for.
