Can someone please let me know if there is a minimum or max. no. of colleges to apply to? What are do you suggest?

Three seems like a nice number, but I guess the real answer would be as many as it takes to get accepted

That depends on you and your situation. I really wanted to get into the school I'm going to because it's a great program and because my wife's family is close by. There is a no minimum per say, but you'll see when you actually start working on the applications and all of the material involved, doing too many will be a royal pain as they are very time consuming.

No minimum or maximum to the number of programs you apply to. Mostly depends on your flexibility. Are you willing to move to a different city, state, the other side of the country?

Some people have apply to several programs, interview with them and then choose from the programs from which they are accepted. Others like me want to go to a specific school, like me, and only apply there. I applied to Barry, interviewed, and was luckily accepted.

So in reality, the more apps you put out there the better your chances of acceptance to a program.

Good Luck.

How bad do you want to get in? If you are willing to wait until you get in to your first or second choice then only go with 2. I think this is best for those that are not really wanting to move to another location. I know that someone has posted to apply to places that you could see yourself moving to. I think that I have said this as well. After my first semester the undesirable location that I am living in became a matter of indifference because you won't really notice what else is going on around you but school.

I applied to six, had 5 invites, accepted my first interview which was my first choice. I think that you have to also think of when each program starts and when you must commit to that program. I know that once you commit some programs require a downpayment to hold your spot, which most often is nonrefundable. So if your last choice admits you then two months down the road you interview at 1st choice and they admit you as well you are faced with a decision and you could be out some money.

As many as you think you need to.

I would suggest doing them in twos. Pick 4 schools, get two of them completed, and then complete the other two.

It might be easier to send all the transcripts at once.

I would be hard pressed to get my reference writers to submit too many references. It might be better if you have several different references to choose from. I cant imagine making my Dr reference sit down during his busy day and do too many more than a couple of references.

Thanks everyone for your help. Four aps sounds good. Although, I reeeally have my heart set on one in particular.
