How to make the most of work benefits?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi everyone!

I am just reaching my one year anniversary of working as a RN, which is pretty cool to think about :) I'm still a newbie nurse, but I want to take advantage of as many employee benefits as I can, besides my PTO...

I get $6k/yr for education reimbursement (seminars & conferences that offer CEUs, classes, certifications, etc.). What would you do? I am considering taking an online grad class at a time (non-degree seeking) and possibly entering a MSN program in another 2-3 years. This is free(ish) money...and I'm totally a nerd!

Oh yes, I'm also putting aside enough retirement contributions to get the maximum match (50% on the first 6% of my salary) from my hospital.

I'm looking to see what you all do to take advantage of your employee benefits? Or what you wish you could do. Thanks!

I would attend a conference in your specialty area. I saved my own $$ for 2 years to be able to do so- and it was well worth it.
