How do you look for your next assignment?

I'm always looking for/preparing for my next assignment. I have several agencies I'm in contact with so I always have my name out there (for the bigger agencies) but I depend on rolling right into my next assignment with little time off between. I know there are tons of smaller agencies out there and I'm curious do you have certain places or ways you search for your next position? Google search? I've gone to: jobspider . com, postjobfree . com, job.com, indeed.com... standard google search...

any other thoughts?

I can't really answer your question but your posting made me curious. I am very interested in starting the travel nurse route. I am actually planning to contact agencies this week. It sounds like you have been traveling for awhile. I just wanted to know how hard it is to get an assignment? It sounds like you are with a lot of agencies. How many do you recommend being affiliated with? What is the longest you have gone without an assignment? I just worry about the stress of always wondering how long you will have a job and thinking about getting the next one. Is it worth it?

I usually start looking at new contracts 6-8 weeks before the end of my contract. I call my recruiter (if she hasn't already called me - knows my habits) and start checking daily on the company website. You could certainly do the same with all the agencies you are in touch with. I'd do this first rather than the "regular job" websites as the agencies will have contract positions instead of staff type jobs.
