How long your classes last first semester?

All day, every day. When they say full time, they mean it. For the last month, I estimate that I have spent 60-65 hours per week in class or studying.

When clinicals start, it will be even more demanding of time.

Classes are one thing, studying is another. Make a point in preparing to devote your time to school. The more you can give, the better off you are. In the end, it really makes a difference. All my best to you.

I just started in September. Our program front-loads a one month long introduction to anesthesia course. I was in class from 8-4 Monday through Friday. There were tests several times a week, so I spent ALL of my free time studying for the next day. I logged a minimum of 8 hours each day on the weekends doing something school related. Now that September is over, it has eased slightly. I still go to class Monday-Friday, and I put in a few hours every day studying. I never had to work hard at school related things....until now. But, the prize at the end is well worth the work!

The reason I asked about actual time in school was that I have to drive to school for about 1 1/2 hr one way... So, this is important for me to know if I should choose this life style for the next 2 years. But, thanks to everyone for response!

90 minutes one way? Either record lectures and listen to them in the car, or better yet, move. Especially if your clinical site is that far away. That's a long time to drive at 4:30am and to get finished with clinical at 5 or 6pm to turn around and do it again. And that's not taking call time into account.

I attend a school in western PA and for the first semester the actual class days are only Thursday and Friday-all day. (Studying time additional;) ). With that being said, the second semester kicks it up a few notches and is Monday-Friday with 2 days of clinical and 3 days class. I would consider moving closer to school. Even if only temporary, the money spent for an apartment close to school is well worth the time you will save on your commute. You will need that time to study and prepare for classes or clinical. There are students in my program who commute 1 to 1.5 hours, and they seem to manage it ok. Most end up staying in the area overnight on clinical days.

Yes, I have a feeling that I need to move but it's not an option yet... Unfortunately. But I am considering it as a future plan.
