I am a military spouse so I'm familiar with the military world and life. On here, there are a lot of threads for people who have already applied, or are thinking about applying.
My question is, what is the process from the point I am at now (wanting to join ASAP) to actually signing paperwork and making my first duty station. I plan to contact a recruiter Monday, but would like to hear the process of previous applicants and acceptances. Thanks in advance. FWIW, I'd take any nursing position except L&D. I am a new grad, about to start my first nursing job on a med-surg floor. I'm 30, married, no kids.
From start to finish...how does it work...? I'm reading threads that state people applied back in June and just got notified in October to go to COT the following May? Is it only once a year? I know right now I am NTP, but will I be FQ by the time deadlines come around?

It takes about a year from when you first contact a recruiter to when you show up at training, assuming you get in the first time. I hope you understand that joint spouse assignments are far from guaranteed. Even if you get your joint spouse assignment, know that it will severely limit your career options. You likely will be stuck doing med-surg or outpatient clinic nursing.
