Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this would be the right forum to be posting in but perhaps you can provide some information.
I am a Canadian student nurse finishing up a Bachelor of Nursing 4 year degree program and i am interested in nursing in either New Zealand or Australia when i complete the program. I have dual citizenship; both parents born and raised in New Zealand although i am Canadian born.
After graduating, i will stay long enough in Canada to gain a year Med/Surg experience before heading over your way!
My question is, what can i do now to prepare to meet this goal? I know that i have a definite advantage with the dual citizenship but i don't know how to go about finding an employer down under or finding information that would be pertinent to relocating a small family.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is the hourly wages for RN's in New Zealand and Australia and how is pricing for accommodation? Open to various options- please advise.
Thank you!

Check out the "sticky" thread on resources found at the top of this forum. I have added some links to Australian registration boards and the New Zealand one. Since you have dual citizenship with NZ you probably will not need to go through DIMIA (Dept Immigration) even for here but it would be worth checking out.

Once you have completed your graduate nurse year you will have an advantage for employment.
Some decisions that you will need to make include: public or private hospital or agency nursing.
Base rate RN approximately $24 per hour ordinary hours then add your penalties.
Accomodation will vary and some hospital also have a nurses residence. Largest Private Hospital in NSW www.sah.org.au has onsite accomodation for $80 per week.
Hope this information assists you
