Hi -
I am writing a research paper on the famous code controversy topic (i.e. Should family members be allowed present in code situations?)
Anyway, I have to relate this topic to nursing practice, administration, research, education and legislation.
I've done okay with everything except the legislation and education parts.
Can anyone enlighten me on how I would find out if there is leglsation on this topic? I tried looking at the NLN's and ANA's websites, but no luck.
-Much appreciated.

Are you talking legislation by a government, such as the state level or the Boards of Nursing?
The Emergency Nurses Association has a stance on it.
Interesting topic. I tackled it during my a course in my RN to BSN program and wasn't aware of any legislation. It's a facility driven policy, as far as I'm concerned, but you might check the Joint Commission's website and see if they have any recommendations - but they don't necessary legislate.
Any legislation...state or government would suffice. I couldn't specifically find any myself.
Now that you mentioned that it is a facility driven policy, do you know how I could access any policies? In other words, would a facility's policy on this issue be public information and could I find it online?
Thanks again
