How to Enter workforce as Nurse tech/PCT

Hey guys,

I would like to hear specifically from student nurses or experienced hiring nurses or who changed careers and got nurse tech or PCT positions while in nursing school. After doing so many clinicals I think it will be really beneficial for me to get a job in hospital during my senior year in nursing school.

Because I'm a non traditional student nurse I have like this huge resume of unrelated jobs. Do I cut all that information out of my resume then just put my clinical rotations and school education? then they would say, how could I be so old and not have worked anywhere?

If not how do I determine what is relevant and will help me as opposed to being viewed as someone who is not fit for nursing by presenting a bunch of non-nursing jobs on my resume. What do hiring managers look for?

My other question is how many years previous work experience should I put on my resume I got 18 years of past work experience all related to electrical, electronics and telecommunications. The only relevant experience to medicine was EMT work I did back in 2000-2003 so thats 10 years back but I don't want my resume to look too crowded because I had lots of odd jobs since then. However my last job way 4 years straight so that does show some stability.

Just how do nurse managers and HR view career changers to health care? do they like us because we may adapt quickly or hate us because we may be set in our ways?

Any tips on what to put and what are some definite no's that you guys can give me on this would be helpful.
