How can I get work permit?

Published

  1. Is it possible for a person who holds an LVN license to get work permit from USCIS? Does any one know a website or other source for information on the process, i'm already in the country on an unrelated visa and would be trying to change status. i'm in California and thinking of taking some classes & applying for license

Welcome to allnurses.com. I moved your post to the International Forum for more responses. I also suggest reading some of the 'stickies' at the top of the Forum.

Sorry, but no. Immigration requires that you hold an RN degree, to be able to get a green card. The LVN is a technical degree and does not meet requirements for that, you need the professional license.

There are no tempoary work permits available to you as a nurse.
