How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

U.S.A. Florida

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

thank you soooooo much!!!! you have been extremely helpful!!! have a great weekend!!!! :nurse:

thank you!!!! all the information you have given us is great!!!!!

have a great weekend!

Zdream, I agree! Let's all meet up, & meet together for Orientation :)

NewRN, Thanks again for all your answers! I hope you enjoy your weekend and I have a few more questions that you can possibly answer when you get back. I believe we are to get Protective eye gear, bandage scissors and pen lights, like you already said correct? Can they be any color?

From my understanding, we are to get the FNSA Membership. I know we have a choice to pay for 1 or 2 years, what would you suggest? If we have to have it for thw two years whil we're in the program, might as well get the 2 years membership right away.

Also, I know we need a watch with a second hand. Can that also be ANY color? or texture, such as metal, leather, rubber, etc. Digital or analog? Sorry for all my specific questions, lol!!

Enjoy you weekend once again!!!! :nurse:

yeah i agree with you jerziana that we should all meet up at orientation! im so nervous and excited for this whole process to start! and i hope we all have some classes together also, that would be nice because i barely know anyone else going into this. and thanks for the warning NewRn about whats a passing score in the nursing classes, have a good weekend =)

Nurse2B and PinkNurse lets all meet up.. I am driving up with one of my other friends that day and meeting with ZDream.... so lets set something up.... I was reading all the other threads and our peers from the last thread have gotten deferred to the Winter term.... YIKES.... Nova is filling up and i think they are starting to have a waiting list.... PinkNurse i wonder if a technomarine is a good watch to have since thats the only sporty watch i own, i want to save as much money as possible! I still have car payments so i am hoping Baptist comes through and i dont have to take out so many loans  I am super excited to start though... Only a couple of more weeks!!!! AAHHHHHHH NURSE CHARKS!!!:yeah:

HI everyone!! I just found out today that I got into the Fall program! I'm so overwhelmed and ecstatic! This thread is really, really helpful to get a head start on what we should know. I can't wait to start even though I'm quite nervous as well. Hope to meet all of you that were accepted this Fall!

CONGRATS Kpham, i hope to see you at orientation!!!! When did u get the acceptance letter because other people are still waiting!!!! FOREVER waiting so i am just curious... AWESOME now we can see if we all can meet!! this thread is completely useful... im still debating on what to wear lol especially the shoes lol... August 30th the game begins!!!! GET READYYY and WELCOME TO THE SHARK WORLD!!!

Well I actually got denied because there was one class that wasn't completed or in progress on my transcript but I know for a fact that I took and passed the class. After calling and emailing, I was so frustrated and went up to Nova myself to clear things up. Turns out they missed it when they were reviewing -_- and then told me I was accepted into this Fall program. Sometimes its better to just show up in person! I haven't gotten my acceptance package yet so I feel so behind!

CONGRATS KPHAM!!! Welcome to the Sharksss! Yayyyyy!!

Just as an update for everyone in regards to the Baptist Scholarship, a friend of mine received her denial letter from them today in the mail. This is very real and I still haven't received anything in the mail as of today. (I am hoping that is a good thing!) Goodluck to us all waiting to hear from Baptist!! :yeah:

CONGRATS KPHAM!!! AND WELCOME.... you see with NSU you have to be on top of them if not look you wouldve missed the opportunity, everything happens for a reason! WELCOME AND CONGRATS!!!!! You are going to fill out a lot of paperwork lol so get ready!!! Now lets see if we can all meet...

PinkNurse, thanks for the update.. how scary!! What did the letter say, was it just generic? OMG i havent received anything yet, but i know we are up soon already.... GEEEEZ the nervousness never stops!!! Crossing my fingers for all of us waiting, no news is good news at this point.... goodluck again....AAAAAAhhhhhhhhh

Hey!

Just wanted to talk to some of the new entry level fall 2010 students. I got accepted as well! I am equally excited and very anxious about getting my supplies early. Did anyone get shoes yet? If so where and what brand. What about the scrubs? I know we can get them at orientation, but don't they have to be engraved with our names? If we wait to get them at orientation, they won't be ready for our official "first" day of school. I think I am going to head to the bookstore and get mine this week so they will be ready for me. Anyone get your books? I heard that buying them at the bookstore is a total rip-off, so I was going to buy them for much cheaper online. What about bookbags?

Thanks! :)

Nicole

Hi Nicole14,

For the shoes I was thinking of getting Nike Shox since thats what I usullay wear. As far as the scrubs Idk if they have to be ingraved, I hope not... I wanted to buy mines somewhere else. I heard about the bookstore being a rip off but im not sure if we should buy our books before we start????

I have also been wondering about the bookbag. I am petite and would hate carry more than two books on my back! but I dont want to be the only one with a rolling book bag. I usully went to school with my binder and a purse. I guess ill wait to the first week of school and see how many books I have to take in one day :)

I am SUPER excited to start! I want to start buying supplies now that way it wont be a TON of cash all in one week. Do you plan to work while in the program? Hope to see you at orientation :nurse:.
