recently a co-worker was fired at a Michigan hospital for a HIPPA violation. Will she lose her license or any ramifications with the board of nursing?

It's HIPAA. :)
As far as your question, I don't know, sorry. I don't think, though, that HIPAA violations would fall under the purview of the BON.

Only the Michigan BON can answer that question. Good luck to her.

the BON will take care of the license question. She may loose her job in the meanwhile if employer decides she violated policy. Also, there could be civil and criminal charges if patient sues. The other option is that she worries a lot and nothing much happens. I hope the best for her.

Yes, it's possible. She may not lose her license, she could end up on probation, under suspension, get disciplined, etc. Only the BON can decide. It DOES fall under the NPA.
