I have heard that Hinds was terrible. That's what everybody says when i tell them im going there. But noone can tell me exactly what it is that makes them worse than the others. Did you attend and if so can you tell me what makes them so terrible to you. I know that the Jackson campus has the worst reputation.

Actually, attending Hinds would ruin your desire to become a nurse! It is that serious not to fool with them! I attended the Nursing Allied in Jackson, and I had to drop the program because it was just crazy. I ended up transferring to State to finish up my degree. After that experience with Hinds, it turned my desire away from nursing. I am now thinking about going back to nursing school this spring at another university. I realize that nursing school is NOT that bad, but if you fool with the wrong one it can be. Actually, the Clarion Ledger wrote a big article about Hinds failing rate. None of the graduates could pass the State boards. Which means that their graduates couldn't work after completing their program. For one thing, they probably weren't covering the areas that they needed to cover; in order for people to be successful with State boards. If a nursing school has a low pass rate, you should look for another school to attend because it will be a big waste of time.

I know when I was at their program, they would give a lecture on one thing and when it came to test time, none of the stuff they lectured on was on the exams. I would read all the chapters back and forth and still none of the material would be on the exam. :confused:I don't know where they were getting their test questions from, but it would be stuff, on the exam, that you wouldn't have a clue were they got it from. That was really frustrating for me to have to spend up to 3 a.m. in the morning reading over lecture notes and chapters in the textbook and to find out that none of it was on the exam. I am highly intelligent and smart enough to receive a Bachelor's degree, but after dealing with Hinds you must have to be a darn genius to pass their stuff. I know that nursing school's material and skills does not require a person to be a genius to pass it, but with Hinds it is like near impossible to pass their program. I understand how those people couldn't pass the state boards because most of the material that they covered was probably not anything geared toward passing them. Also, I know of instructor's at UMC that said that their program is way easier than Hinds and that Hinds was crazy.

Another thing, about Hinds is that they are very unprofessional and rude at the Raymond campus. They are real mean spirited instructors and faculty. At the Nursing Allied, the faculty is actually nice but the Raymond campus they are horrible to students. They treat the students like crap. They act like the  ! At the Raymond campus, they don't care anything about the students. I wouldn't suggest anyone to dot Hinds doors. It is a big waste of money and time. Even on the regular Raymond campus they don't have a high graduation rate. Most people end up dropping out of Hinds and not return to college or just transfer out of there before their sophomore year. Then there are some that stay out there for 4 to 5 years due to changing majors because they don't have a clue to what they want to do. I guess there is not enough guidance or direction from the counselors to direct the students into which major or path to take. Anyway, just ask how others feel about Hinds because I might be a little biased when it comes to them. I know my experience was not an enjoyable one there, and I wouldn't suggest anyone to attend there.

By the way, I was in the RN program at Hinds. The LPN program might be different, and you might need to ask others opinions on it.

I hope you get accepted to and good luck!!!:wink2:

Hi, I am starting in the spring at the Vicksburg campus as well. I am looking forward to it despite the negativity of some people. I think part of the reason that so many people have problems is because of the admission scores. I was suprised to see that the average hinds score is 52 and an at risk score starts at 49. That is not that much of a margin.

Hello, im also looking forward to it despite all the terrible things I have heard. :nono:I'm going to pray about it and do my best to succeed. I'm going in with a winning attitude!!!:yeah:

Well, you better go in with a positive attitude with Hinds because after you get through fooling with them, you will need it.

How do you know that you are already accepted into the Spring session 09. I was told that they are not sending the acceptance forms out until oct. 15th. I am waiting to hear about getting in spring 09 at the rankin campus. Does anyone know how many students are accepted for each class?

I know that i am in because i was sitting in the lady office when she finished my paperwork and put my name on the list. Then she turned to me and said congrats you are in now call your family and friends. She said that they accept b/t 35-40. Do you know what number you are on the list? My friend called they told her what number she was and that she was in over the phone.

Well I was told I was no. 29 then when I called a couple of weeks ago they told me I was no. 34. She said she did not know why I had moved but that I was number 34. I am so counting on this, so i just hope they do accept 40 students.
