HFCC - Nsg 120/126

Hi all, does anyone know if the optional books are "required" or were they helpful as far as supplemental reading?

Well, I'm kind of cheap, so I never bought (and therefore could not use) the "optional" books. We read maybe one chapter out of nutrition. Which specific book are you curious about?

No one in particular, was just wondering if it was mandatory to by the "optional books". Did they really help?

I never bought any of the optional books. Why read more material when you have it all in your textbook?

Yeah, what she said. I think I used the nutrition a tiny bit, but that's in your Berman book.

I didn't buy any of the optional books. Plus, there's plenty of reading with the required books. Trust.

I know your only in 120/126 now but, I would recommend buying the Med-Surg Companion book by Lewis. It was mandatory when I was in school but they may have changed it to optional. It is an excellent study tool once you get into 221 & 222.

Thanks, I probably won't waste my time buying all those optional books.

Another question, how many chapters do they normally have you reading for a test in 120/126?

Have you bought the modules yet? Each module will tell you how much to read per section. In addition, there are appendices in the back of each section that are fair game in exams as well so don't over look those. I don't think there is a ton of reading for your first semester but as you advanced through the program, there will be a ton of chapters to read per test.

Actually, I don't think I ever read an entire chapter last year, with the exception of the one on "Pain". After slogging through that, the instructor said, "Oh, you don't have to read all that-just hit the highlights on the powerpoint." So now I don't read the chapter except for what is covered on the powerpoint, to get more indepth info on the topic.
