Hi everyone! My name is Missy. I'm 28 and married with three small children. I didn't finish high school but am (finally!!!) taking my GED test at the end of the month and then I plan on starting with generals and pre-reqs in the spring semester in Januray, at the local college. I have been kicking around the idea of nursing for a while and finally came to a decision to go for it! I've been thinking about what I want to do when I "grow up" for quite some time now and I finally have some clarity!!
My ultimate goal is to obtain a position in L&D or post-partum at a hospital... I know that may very well NOT hapen right away, but that's just my long term goal... Right now the short term is to start school! Ha!
Thanks for any input, support and welcomings!!

Hi Missy…
Congratulations on taking the first step in becoming a nurse. The career is rewarding, exciting, and difficult. I am glad I chose the profession. There are some really good threads on the site that offer a wealth of information. I don’t think there is a single topic that has yet to be discussed.
Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

Hi Missy! I can somewhat relate...I am 27 with 2 young kids...and I also got a GED...I went on to get a B.A., but I am continuing on to do nursing! I have wanted to get into nursing for the past 7 years, just didn't have the confidence in myself to do it until recently. Good luck with your GED test and college!
Thanks for your support ladies! I'm really excited to get started! I'm taking the GED on the 29th and want to do really well, even if it doesn't make any difference at least it will make me feel good!
Then I will need to take the accuplacer test to see where I'm at and need to start with at the college I'll be attending. I don't think I'll take on a full load just yet, I work 4 evenings a week and have three kids so I'll start slow and work into more classes as I get more comfortable.
Thanks again for your support! And good luck Cherry!
