Hello all,
Can those of you who have used the HESI CD share the results you got on the disc. My scores have been well below what is recommended (64 PERCENT ). Should I be concerned when it comes time for finally HESI? PLS share.

I have taken the fundamentals, maternity, med-surg, and pedi tests on the hesi cd and my scores have ranged from 91-53%. I am getting a little worried. I take the hesi in april and must pass w/ an 850 or better in order to graduate.

FWiW, I took the mental health/psychiatric nursing HESI CD test and got a 64 or something like that. I took the test the first time before actually studying for the real HESI, to sort of get a baseline. I took it a second time after I had done doing all the studying I had time for, and I did somewhat better (in the 70's?), but that was probably because I remembered the questions. I was pretty worried. But when I took the HESI for real, I got a 1054/95/91 (HESI score/conversion score/percentile). I remember thinking that they must use their discarded, old questions for the CD. Some of them were pretty lame.
My opinion on testing is that it may or may not test what you know; the testing and the ability to read and answer the test questions is a separate skill. If I don't do well on a test, I try to figure out why -- what was it in the wording of the specific question I got wrong that I didn't understand -- and I don't let a poor score alter my perception of what I know. Some of the profs at my school teach how to read and understand test questions; this has been very helpful.

One thing to think about - the HESI CD gives you a score based on the percentage of questions you got right, where the HESI exams give you a score that figures in question difficulty and all that. I've taken two subject HESIs so far, missed 5-6 questions on each, and scored 99.99% on both actual exams. I missed a few questions on the CD when I took the Fundamentals test, so I got about a 91. Haven't your instructors explained how the HESIs work? The main idea is to not kill the patient - that makes your score drop significantly. One of my friends missed the same number of questions as I did in Fundamnetals but scored in the 80s (percentile and composite) - she must have missed what the test makers consider to be "easier" questions.
