Heparin calculation...HELP

Published

I have a pass or fail nursing math test coming up and I'm practicing with different types of calculations.

I came across this problem and I'm stuck... I hope someone can help me.

Heparin 100,000 units is added to 1 Liter of Normal Saline. The rate of IV is 80mcgtts per minute. How much Heparin is the patient receiving each hour?

and if you can go over the process of how you broke the problem down. I'd be grateful.

How many units or how many ml or how many drops per hour?

If it's mcgtts/hour I'm already looking at the answer.

If it's ml/hour or units/hr, this will require minor conversion/additional step.
