hi,
just wanting to know if a patient has a picc which is hep-locked and i didnt know that and just flushed it into the patient, what would happen? plz help!!

Hep-lock solution is 10 units per mL, so there's an extremely low risk of anything bad happening to the patient.

Not being funny, but I can't think of any other way to start using the PICC other than to flush it out.
Unless some are drawing it out, which isn't our policy here. We always flush before we use it - and we flush out the portacaths before we use them. Some of those have been heplocked for weeks/months.
