Not all schools require a BSN but, you do need a BS in something before you can apply.

You absolutely cannot apply to any nurse anesthesia program without a BSN or "other appropriate baccalaureate degree". What the other degree can be is up to the individual programs. No all programs will even consider any degree other than BSN. Contact programs that you are interested in and ask- that will help you to make a decision about what degree to complete. My suggestion is that you complete a BSN because it is accepted by all programs. Good Luck

With some schools is does matter where the degree came from. There are some schools that want a BSN from a NLN accredited program. Look into the CRNA programs you think you might want to apply to and go by their requirements. There are online BSN programs that are NLN accredited.

Make sure you do your research because it would be awful to think of spending up to 2 years worth of time and money, and still not be eligible to apply.

My name is Sergey and thanks a lot for posting such a useful information and dedicating time to educate others. I really appreciate it. I have a question for all my nursing friends. I have associate degree in respiratory therapy and associate degree in nursing. I got them both in vocational school though. I want to apply for CRNA program but I am not sure if they will accept credits from those schools. Another problem is that I dont have BS degree. Do you know any schools that I still can apply for. Im doing my research and it seems like all programs require BS degree. If you have any information that is useful for my situation, can you please share it.

As someone mentioned earlier not all school require BS in nursing it realy depends on where you are applying. I am a Respiratory Therapist and RN as well and have AD in both. I just got my BSN summer 2006 because in NY almost all of the school prefer BSN for an admission to CRNA program. I got my BSN online. My advice get BSN ether online or apply to school that have both RN to BSN or RN to MSN programs and CRNA program this way you will be in.

Being RN and RT opens many doors....trust me!

You can't get a masters degree without getting a bachelors first.

yes,you do need BS but not all schools require it in Nursing. You can have RN license,have Bachelors in Biology Science and get in. I know that most of them prefer for you to have BSN.
