Help With a Definition

I feel kinda stupid for asking.......but I cannot find a general answer anywhere on the internet unless I am overlooking the obvious?? I am working on a paper and need to describe "Clinical Application" ......nothing specific, just what it is in general. I think I know what the correct definition is, but I don't want to look any more stupid by saying the wrong thing, lol. Any help would be much appreciated.

Clinical: concerned with or based on actual observation and treatment of disease in patients rather than experimentation or theory
