Help :/

Ok so I really want to be a nurse but I can not seem to find a school that does not have a waiting list. All the ones that don't have waiting lists are REALLY far from me and it is not realistic for me to go there. I am now thinking about going to school to be a rad tech instead. Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice?

It would help to know where you live. I know where I live the "waiting lists" were only active for the one term, meaning people were waitlisted incase those who got accepted in the first batch of acceptances declined. The next year everybody has to apply all over again. My advice would be to get all the pre-req classes done and get A's in them. I applied 1 time. Waited until all 10 of the pre-req's were done, got A's in all of them and was accepted with no issues.

Almost all schools have waiting lists. That's just the way it is. There are a lot of people who want to be nurses. If it is something that is important to you, you'll make it work. In the meantime, do your pre-req's, get a job as a cna or patient care tech, or volunteer. This will look good on your entrance application, get you a bit of experience and will shed some light on whether or not nursing really is for you.

And- how long is long? I am in California and there are some schools that have a 4 year waiting list.

I live in gilbert Arizona. I can't really wait very long because I need to get started ASAP. I have a child and I am trying to get school done while he is young and while my family can still help me. I have money put away for college so I could pay for the schools that don't have the waiting list, they are just really far.
