Help a sister out

I am in my first official semester of Nursing school, this is week 6. I am struggling a bit with my studying habits and balancing life. Does anyone have any tips on how to balance things? How to stay motivated? or even just on how to study?

Thank you!

well, what are your study habits? maybe they're not as efficient as they can be. my "life"outside nursing was hitting up happy hour with my nursing friends after exams or going to the beach on our days off. same group i studied with. if you're having difficulty with WHAT to study or focus on then maybe a meeting with your instructor will help.

Oh my gosh, I am so glad you posted this.....I am in your exact same position. I don't know what to do, either. I feel like all I do is study and it doesn't seem to be enough. I never realized how ineffective at time management I really was. I am going to meet with my nursing instructor soon---I'll keep you posted on what happens in my situation---keep me posted on yours! I wish you the best of luck with this---good luck, and send me some, too! :)

I will most definitely keep you posted! I think I'm more than likely going to meet with my instructors and see what they say. I'm not completely freaking out yet because I know some of my classmates are also struggling, but none of us know what to do exactly. Good luck! and thank you :)

Study better, not harder. You may need to develop different study habits if yours aren't working for you. There are many practice nursing questions online that could help you get into the habit of answering with an NCLEX-mind.

When I study I have been going through my notes, I watch videos and take more notes. I try to write the same information and much as I can, that way I can make sense of it. I have gone to Sessions which are meant to be study group type of thing, but yet I feel like that is not enough. I have outlines chapters, read chapters and have studied with other people. I feel like I could do more, but I don't know what. And as to "life," I'm finding it hard to keep everything separated from each other, between school, work, and relationships between friends and family. I think you're right, I might have to meet up with my instructors. Thank you!

I never thought about it that way, thank you! My textbooks have NCLEX questions usually at the end of each chapter, I always fail to go through them completely. I will take your advice, and figure out what works better for me.
