Help with organization?

Okay, just a little background - I am starting my pre-requisites this fall (technically started this summer, but I don't count it) and am worried about my organizational skills. I'm taking 19 credits this fall and really, REALLY need to buckle down. :smokin:

Typically I start my quarter (we do quarters at my CC) by gathering all my syllabi and writing them into a planner (I need a new one, any suggestions?). Sounds good, right? The problem is typically I use the planner maybe a week or two and by then my classes fall into a "rhythm" and I never use it again because I generally remember what's due when. I'm trying to figure out ways to keep myself using the planner - my mother suggested bribes (I'm 19 and live at home), as in "I can play around for ten minutes after I've done everything in my planner" but...my problem is that I tend to forget such bribes.

I've thought about putting an alarm in my phone to check my planner, etc, but just want to know if you guys have any suggestions/comments. I'm really desperate to learn how to better organize, as it's gonna kill me this fall if I don't. :banghead: Ideas/suggestions/comments ANYTHING appreciated - even different ways to organize.

Thank you very, very much! :redpinkhe

PS - I know this is the nursing student forum, but I figure you guys have a huge hold on organization and might be able to share some tips! :heartbeat

Personally I ditched the dayplanner now do everything in Outlook. I put my schedule in the Calendar, and any major exams, etc. But then I put my whole reading schedule in the To Do function. I put a start date on the day when I want to start it, and then make it due when it's due. This means that every morning at 8:00am, I get a To Do list of what I need to finish for the day....once each task is done I can click on it and cross it off.

Best of luck :-)

I also am in need of major organizational advise myself, but did come up with this idea. I am using binders for the first time in my college years, and printed out some blank calendars, a full month one and a weekly one, punched holes in um and stuck them in my binder. I figure for each class it will have it's own binder and own planner right in it. During class or whatever I can jot down things due when on the calender. We'll see how it goes, but that's my:twocents::twocents: of the day! :chuckle
