Help! Nursing Research is killing me!!!

Published

I am in nursing research right now and I am drowning with all the information. The terms are like Greek to me... I don't remember a whole lot from intro stats. My mid-term is coming up in a couple of weeks and I am dreading it. If I don't pass this class... I will seriously drop the program... I can't imagine having to retake it. Any tips? Any helpful resources??? HELP!!!

Hi Tricia. I can't help you since dropping Research this semester to focus on my other courses. It was so stressful having to produce a weekly group assignment, spend 2 days a week in clinicals, complete assignments for 2 more classes, and work 16 hour shifts on the weekends for bills. It was too much. So, even though I can't help you with Research, just know that you're not alone and that it's probably the hardest course in all of grad school. Personally, I'm looking forward to taking the class all by itself in the Fall despite having to graduate a semester later than planned.

Good luck and stay sane!

OMG! That was my very first class when I just started NP classes. I took two classes a semester, my other one was Ethics. Thank goodness Ethics was easier than Research.

I totally sympathize with you about the statistics stuff. It went right over my head. I would read a chapter and didn't even have a clue as to what I read. I was just reading the words.

I only passed statistics by the skin of my teeth. (another nightmare for me, and also my very first class in BSN school!) So it was of no help to me in Research.

Luckily I had a great instructor that graded on the curve and I ended up with a B. But I honestly don't know how, I was hoping for a C. As I've mentioned in some other posts, I chalk it up to SLU (ST. louis University) The instructors work with you to make sure you pass.

I know this post has probably not been any encouragment to you, I can only sympathize and let you know you're not alone!
