Help with nursing questions!!!!

I'm taking my first med-surg2 test next Thursday.

Here's what I've been doing:

I read the chapter a couple of times. (before class, once after class to highlight any pertinent information, and once before the test to refresh the material).

I do the questions in the back of those chapters.

I do the corresponding pages that are in the study guide that came with the book.

I have an NCLEX book in which I do the questions of corresponding topic(s) of the test.

I also have med/surg success and I do the questions of corresponding topic(s) of the test.

I talk about the information with my classmates and see if we have any disagreements about the subject.

The trick to the questions is doing enough of them to get used to them. Most of them work on logical basis of "If ___ then ____" If the pt. does _____, then you do_____. It's a type of logical thinking that on the surface looks easy but when you have a few answers to choose from, it can get complicated - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_conditional

Don't get stuck in modalities.

There may be more than one answer - but there is a "more correct" one. If you know the information (hence, why I focus on knowing the information before attempting any type of question), the only thing you have to worry about it is how to apply it.

And you can do this! You wouldn't believe how much of a positive attitude actually helps especially if you are well prepared.

As I said, I haven't taken my first test for med/surg 2, but I know that I'll do just fine - I'm prepared.

And if you are prepared enough - you'll do fine too.

My problem is there are 6 chapters and there's no way to get all that info in my head. The instructor isn't narrowing it down/

My first test has 6 chapters too - preop, intraop, postop, vascular disorders, stress and emergency nursing. Let's not forget that I'm also doing clinicals, learning clinical skills, have to worry about papers that I have to do for nursing and I'm also taking microbio.

You just have to put the time in to study - there is no way around it.

I was warned about it last semester when I was in med/surg 1 that med/surg 2 kills one's schedule. We started our semester last week and we have our first test next week - we've spent two weeks on these 6 chapters. And I've spent these last past two weeks conquering these chapters, trying to cram as much information into my head as possible.

It takes time, and everyone studies differently, but the only trick is to put your time in studying. Once you know the information, the only thing you have to worry about is how the questions are worded and how to apply the information that you know.
