Help from other LPN's

Published

I currently hold an LPN license i graduated form LPN school at the age of 19 and not really sure i liked nursing at all, i was sort of forced into the field by family and ended up graduating not doing bad in clinical just dreading my time at the hospital. It seems as if i hate the hospital setting and get nervous with patient care. I have been accepted and started the cardiac sonography program, but again i find myself with no interest in it and dreading my clinical experience. I have been thinking of using my medical background to earn my bachelors in health care administration. I am not sure if this is a good field to get into but patient care is not my thing!! Help please!!

I think it has alot to do with your age if I read your post right your in your early to mid twenties. I takes time to find yourself. Your parents pushing you into the field probably has to do with them not wanting to see you sputture like most young people do I know did. It takes time to fully mature and get self motivated to start a career in any field. Good luck! Enjoy your youth.

There are other options out there for lpns other than direct bedside care. I would strongly advise checking them out:)

Thank you , could you give me some suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated!

Of course:)

You could be a case manager, a school nurse, a supervisor in the community (supervising PSWs, assessing care plans, planning inservices), diabetic nurse, wound care management nurse, occupational health nurse, or even a a director of care (all I can think of at the moment off the top of my head). I have seen all of these roles filled with LPN/RPNs.
