help me get in!

Ok-- here's the deal.... walk me through what I need to get into CRNA school. Here's the run down....

I'm 26 and a Speech Language Pathologist- I have a B.S degree and a M.S. and I'm currently a rehab director at a rehab facility in TX. I got a really early start on college and was done with all of this at 23. I speak Spanish and have excellent grades on all transcripts. (B.S 3.7 and M.S 3.9) I will be done with nursing school in 16 more months and I am constantly contemplating, researching, and preparing for the next step. I know that ICU/CCU experience is needed... but what else can I do other than just meet all the "on paper" requirements that everyone else will have?

I have talked with local CRNA's, but I want a broader scope of opinions from all of you guys.

I know that I have a long way to go, but I have come far already and I am not easily intimidated by a new challenge. Please give me some good advice!

Thank you!

there's probably a lot of info you can get from current applicants/srna's/crna's... what i would recommend is check out the two 'stickys' at the top of the pre-crna threads.. (money and reality) and (read first: how to become a crna) - if after this, you still have questions/want info, by all means, ask away -

Not to come of wrong, but put your effort into finishing the LAST 16 MONTHS of school. You need to concentrate on finishing your BSN then my advice take a job in a SICU get your feet wet and get comfortable as a RN before you worry about things at least 2.5 years away. Just my $ .02

good advice... unfortunately- I will worry about everything. I think there are pills for this sort of thing.

:)

Thanks for the advice

Definitely focus on what's right in front of you. I remember being in nursing school and spending my time looking up CRNA programs when I should have beem studying. Oops. Anyway, it's a long road and you can only do it step by step. You will make yourself nuts trying to do it all TODAY. I'm not sure if it helps to tell someone that, though, because I couldn't help being a stress case about the whole thing.

Well if you think you need pills now, wait till you get in to a program. This will be one of the biggest challenges of your life!

Good Luck.
