help to get a job

Hellow:

Can a person that have been out of school for more than 10 years have the posibilities to get a job as recent graduate nurse in Hospitals settings. How important are the transcripts?

Thanks!

I was an LPN forever before I got my RN. Even as a new grad RN I was disqualified for a lot of new grad residency programs because of prior nursing experience. I had worked in hospitals in the beginning of my nursing career but had been out of acute care for a while. The changes in standard of care were huge during that time. I was hired and given a shorter orientation as a regular staff nurse as if I was transitioning to acute care. If you have been working elsewhere as a nurse this may be an option.

Most new grad programs require graduation/passing NCLEX to be within the past 6-12 months. Most ask for transcripts/GPA for consideration.

You can try to find a residency that takes experienced nurses looking to change specialties. Or another option is to pay for a RN refresher course.
