I have a friend whom I've known for over 20years.
She has been telling me of how she knows that she is not in the right place as it concerns her career passion. I know she loves to teach and do research. So I figured she will be on her way to pursuing her msn in nursing education and all that stuff. But she works on a medsurg floor and I can tell she's not happy there.
Her problem is that she has been told that nurse educators don't make as much as a clinical nurse/bedside nurse. She wants to start an FNP program next year. She has told me over again "That's not who I am", she says. I have tried to talk to her. BUt I really don't know how far my "talks"will go. She lives in the country area with her family and the closest community college where she could go teach that has a nursing faculty is about 2hrs drive.
Her fears;
She's torn in between doing the FNP , CNS, or just going for her master's in education and later her PhD
So what do you all think?
I just hope that when I show her all y'all's comments on my post she will eventually know what to do. ..
Thanks!

she could do a little research on her own regarding salaries. There are too many variables to say definitely, but I certainly would not waste time and money in any program that I had doubts about.
