hi all. i'm on my first assignment and don't know if i'm gonna make it 12 more weeks. the er is totally disorganized. i fill everything out 2 or 3 times. i ask a question and am ignored. i feel like i'm taking care of the charts and not the pts. one of the regular nurses failed to start a med and put the chart up and i got jumped on. i'm trying to give it a good chance (go in with a positive attitude and all) but i'm ready to cry. any suggestions of what to do. thanks

I am sorry this is going on for you. If it is something you cannot live with for 12 more weeks, while I have had similar interactions like this (they are rare), no one can walk your walk but you. I have never left or called off sick for any days on contract (after doing this for 5 years). I do work, pirmarily, PRN Agency.

You need to weight, what you are enduring versus ruining your reputation with this company and whatever company the Agency and Facility is affiliated with. You may also end up being financially responsible for investments made to you by the Agency.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are making out.

i can do anything for 13 weeks.......i can do anything for 13 weeks........i can do anything for 13 weeks...............yes sometimes I think this while on assignment. Alot of travelers do actually.

If you truely fear your license then get out. If you can adjust then do so.

after your 12 hour shift you are able to hang out and look forward to the wonderful city that you chose to visit.

Best of luck to you!! let us know how it's going.

Remember it is just for 12 more weeks..... remember most important to document and document.... it is the staffs loss not to appreciate the fact that you are there to help.. I had a similar assignment and just held my head high and kept professional until it was over. When my 13 weeks was over I knew I did my best and the problems the hospital had were there before I got there and I did my best to help the pts.... unfortunately not all assignments are a bed of roses just learn from them and grow... if it is not a safe assignment then you keep a journal and notify your recruiter do not jeopardize your license.

i will be graduating from LPN-RN Dec. 15th 2006. can't wait! i want to go into travel nursing but have been overwhelmed at the responses from many different agencies. how do you determine which agency to go with and how do I as a new grad negotiate a contract? any tips?

I am a new traveler, which company are you with?? and what hospital?? Hang in there, I hear times can be tough. If possible call the travel company you are working with and express to them how you feel.
