Because of the shortage of experienced nurses available we have been taking new grads right into the ER. We participate in an ER consortium with other hospitals in the area where we send new ER nurses for crash courses in Emergency Nursing. We have developed an extended orientation program specifically geared to the new grad. I'm sure many other hospitals are doing the same.

Apply to the hospitals that intrest you but make sure during your interview that you interview them as well. Make sure they have a program tailored to the new grad.

Happy hunting and good luck.:D
