I am sure this topic is very much asked, so first of all sorry for being repetitive. I made this thread because I kinda have the different case and really confused about this..plus with what my aunt had shared me her experience since we're just about the same (that was a looong time ago btw).

So yeah I am applying for a nursing licensure here in New York, (i already filled out form 1, and wonders why if I should fill out form 2,.)and i thought i belong to the category where I should apply for a CVS because I graduated outside US. Thing is, I am an american citizen (thru petition 10-12 years ago),..my aunt,(also petitioned) who's already a nurse here in NY, she didn't went through CGFNS when she applied for a license and wonders why should i go through it. I told her maybe it's because system has changed yadda..I just wanted to make sure of everything.

so yeah, do i really belong to the category to apply for CVS? and how will the process be? coz i've been reading their articles/info back-and-forth i just got reaally confused about to whom, from the univ. i graduated, they will send out my credentials? do they send it to cgfns or to NY licensing dept?or will cgfns hand out my credentials to them?i hope the process will be smooth and fast though..

i also have a question about filling out forms,. the dates are really specific i can't really remember what 'exact' date did i enter school (primary to college).. :

If you trained outside the US you have to go through CVS if applying to New York state, Doesn't matter if you are a USC. CVS is a service that NY BON use and CGFNS do all the running around for your documents. Depending on how timely they get all your documents will depend on how quickly your application progresses through the system. CGFNS will wait for 6 months to receive all documents and then they will forward whatever they have to NY BON who will then make their decision. For most people average time is 6-8 months to get eligibility to sit NCLEX

very detailed, thanks alot!! :)

just another question, i just registered for the CVS, my order is still incomplete, as I was reading thoroughly the forms that you have to print, sign, and send to CGFNS,the situation is I transfered schools in between during my nursing school days, 2nd semester to be exact, so it turned out to be two forms that will be sent by CGFNS. The Transcript of Records (my original personal copy) from the univ. I completed my degree has already included the past records of my 1st nursing school. How would that be? Are putting two schools better or just the school where I got my degree with the merged transcript of records?

thanks again!

wth :flmngmd:!!!!! im completing my order by paying in full till CGFNS site says they're currently having problems :

okay transaction done, what i did was I entered all of the schools I went into so as not to cause any problems. i'm fine w/ processing now thnx
