Help with classmate

I'd just ignore her. Honestly, it doesn't sound like she's going to make it very far this time either. Your instructor is in control of the class - or not in control. Either way, if it comes to a class disruption issue, it is the prof's problem. Just keep doing the right thing and don't be rude or disrespectful to this student and don't encourage anybody else to be either. It's sad there isn't more control of the class but you just need to deal with it. If you really need to take action, start by addressing your prof and see how that goes.

We have one of those in our class too. She was kicked out last year for grades and is back again. As a class we ignore her outbursts and make sure to direct our questions to the instructor. I talk to her but not about her life working in the ER, rather about general stuff about our class to kind of feel her out. She's a nice girl just over bearing. It seems our instructors can read that she is and try to keep her in check.

In your situation I would confer with the instructors if she gets out of hand. I'm sure they're aware of how she is but may not act upon it because they don't think it's a big deal.

What I do when I ask the instructor a question or discuss something with her and some other genius student interupts with the answer is just completely ignore them and keep looking at the instructor like I'm still waiting for a reply and I usually get one, and I think the instructor appreciates it. I find it beyond rude when other students answer for the instructor.

Here is my advice...learn to IGNORE. Let's say she drops out this time again and she's gone and life is great! There is another one of *those* around the corner. You will work with one, have one for an in-law, a patient, or maybe all the above lol.....learning to shut it out now may benefit you in the long run

I am in my second half of an LPN program and there is one of "those" in my class too! Luckily she is not in my clinical group. Over the last year or so, I have learned to ignore her comments and her snide remarks that she directs towards me and my classmates.

This girl was constantly interrupting the professor in the middle of lecture, talking about her health problems, her job in healthcare, and numerous other aspects of her life. I guess some of the classmates got sick of listening to her stories over the last year and finally complained to the professor. As a result the professor said she will basically no longer entertain questions and interruptions from the same people during class. Obviously the comment was directed towards the problem classmate. It seems as though she got the hint b/c that whole class period she only raised her hand once, and the professor blatantly ignored her! That was the end of that!

Maybe you can approach the instructor privately and let him/her deal with the issue or like others have said, just chose to ignore her.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my questions, I will take your advise and learn to ignore hers. My mother always told me there would be one person in your group weather it be work or school, that gets on your nerves. Thanks again and Good Luck to everyone.

I agree. Ignore her. She will not last. It sounds like you may not be the only one who is noticing her. My guess is your instructors my have a conversation with her shortly, anyway.
