my frustration level is at critical overload.....i am a BSN studant interested in becoming a midwife...CNM.....I cannot get any response from phonecalls, emails to OB/GYN offices that use midwives....I want to pick a brain of a midwife to findout more about the profession.....Where are they???? I am in central Illinois and have tried 3 practices with 5 midwives.......do I need to make an appt. for a Pap smear just to talk to one?????

Many offices are extraordinarily busy, and the staff doesn't have time to deal with all the phone calls they get. Perhaps do a face-to-face visit first thing when they open in the morning before they have a chance to get behind on their patient load and talk to the secretary to see if there is a midwife who is available to talk to you for a few minutes about setting up an interview or a shaddowing opportunity. If you show that you are really interested by actually going there, it will be impressive and show that you're not just saying something, you actually mean it. Just an idea.

Dont get frustrated, be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
