Hi, I was wondering can any addiction nurses answer my question. I have a degree in Substance abuse counselling and I was wondering as a new grad R.N will this degree help me in the job market? I want to work in a addiction unit or facility and I was wondering what are employers looking for and any suggestion on me increasing my chances of being hire? How would you describe your job as an addiction nurses? Thanks

Just curious if your in recovery yourself? I know of places that have specifically requested this, although It's probably not mandatory. Sounds like you have a great chance of getting hired. Good luck!

Learn about protocols for detox. While you can learn them on the job, sometimes they're a bit complicated, and having some knowledge will help...
No Im not in recovery, but I did my internship at a inpatient facility. I was wondering maybe working at a facility for detox while I finish my nursing program may help me out in this competitive market? Thanks
Yes I would say any area you could get experience in related to your goal would be great! Best Wishes!
